Exporting
To export a list,
select Save As... in the File menu, then check the Export
box.
You can export all
records or only marked records, as a Carnet list or as a text file. By
exporting marked records as a Carnet list, you can create a 'sublist'
that will only contain the records that are marked in the list.
Exporting
a Tab-Delimited Text File
To export a text file,
Carnet will ask you which delimiters to use and which fields to export:

If the return character
is used as a delimiter, it must not be used within the fields. Since addresses
and notes can contain returns, it is necessary to change it to a different
character in the exported file, otherwise the resulting file will be impossible
to import into another program.
The export dialog
lets you define the replacement character. Use a space if you want to
delete the returns and put all the data (such as addresses) in a single
line. Use a rarely used character such as ¶ to be able to recreate
the returns later in another program, with a search/replace operation.
Fields
to Export
Click Check All or
Uncheck All to quickly select or unselect the fields to export. Check
the fields you need.
If Save fields
names as first record is checked, Carnet inserts an extra record before
actually exporting the data, where each field contains its own name. Such
a header record will be useful with a word processor, to do a mail merge
outside of Carnet.
if Skip separators
if field is empty is checked, Carnet will not export an empty field,
i.e. the corresponding tab (or whatever delimiter is used) is skipped.
This option is useful to convert a list to non structured text, for example
to retrieve the result in a word processor where the extra tabs would
be annoying.
