Print Templates

Printing uses templates that are independant from the lists. There are four distincts template types: address books, cards, envelopes and labels. The number of templates is unlimited.

Important -- The Print... command is active only when the frontmost window is a list. Printing is only possible from the frontmost list, using the currently selected template. It is not possible to print directly from a template. The name of the currently active template is shown at the list window's bottom left.

The list of the available templates appears in the Print Template submenu in the File menu. All commands related to templates are grouped in this submenu.

The templates are stored as documents in the Carnet Templates folder. This folder is automatically created by Carnet in the system folder. You can move it to the Preferences folder if you wish. A template can not be open directly from the Finder, nor used by Carnet if it is not in the Carnet Templates folder.

Important -- To print, there is no need to display the template. The selected template is automatically loaded (without displaying) at print time. If several templates are open, the frontmost template is used.

To display the currently selected template, choose Show Template in the Template submenu (or hit Y), or select a template with the <option> key down to make it current and display it at once.

If a template is already displayed, selecting another template always also displays it.
