Inserting Data

References to data in list is made through tags, such as <lastname> or <address>. These tags are predefined in the Data menu.

The Data menu is only active when a text box is in edit mode.

Important -- There is no need to create a box for each tag. For example, an addressing box for an envelope or a label sheet might look like this:

In the above example, notice the free space on the bottom, to be filled by multi-line addresses. Printing a text box is always clipped to the box size, any overflowing text will not be printed.

The tags can appear any number of times in the page (or even within a box). They can be mixed with real text. A text box can contain only real text without any tag. You can use this to include a sender information on an envelope, or to print labels that have nothing to do with the list.

Important -- The <notes> tag is handled in a different manner and can appear only once per page. However, if a second <notes> tag is found, it actually means "trailing notes" and will only be used if the first box is not large enough to hold the whole notes text. See Follow-up Pages.
