Number Zone

Carnet features a powerful relocation computation on the numbers and manages prefixes automatically. At entry time, the number zone should be selected according to its geographical location, and its relation with your own location (or your main location if your list is on a PowerBook).

To set the number's zone, click the icon on the left of the number and choose the proper zone in the popup menu.

As an example, let's say that your main location is in New-York, in the area code 212:

  • When you type the number of someone living in the same zone, you only enter the local number and set it to Local Zone. You can omit the area code, which usually you don't need to dial.
  • When you type the number of another person living in Cupertino, in area code 408, you enter the area number in the number and set it to Interzone.
  • You travel to Cupertino, in the area 408, and bring your list in your PowerBook. You can simply create a setup to dial from there, in which the numbers that are Local Zone in your list are automatically prefixed with the missing 212.

Important -- Do not enter the interzone or international prefix in the number itself, else Carnet will not be able to manage the prefixes correctly.

While entering a number, use the shortcuts 0, 1, 2, 3 ou 4 (on the numeric keypad) to select the zone. The zone icon changes to show the selected zone.

If you hold down the <option> key while selecting a zone, all the numbers of the records are set to that zone.
