Hanging
Up
To
hang up, click the hang up icon. Hanging up has different effects depending
on the selected dialing mode:
- In Modem mode (or
Minitel), the hang up action affects the modem, not the telephone. Here
are two different scenarios:
- The person
you are calling answers: You pick up the phone, but at this moment,
the phone is dead because the modem is holding the line. Thus, you
must hang up the modem to make it release the line and give
it back to the telephone.
- There is no
answer, or the number is busy: There is no need to pick up the phone.
Hang up the modem (from Carnet) to actually hang up and end the
call.
 |
If you use a
Minitel 10 or 12, which has an integrated mouthpiece, there is no
need to hang up if your party answers the call. See A
Bit of Telephony for more information.
|
- In Network mode,
the hang up command will be transmitted to the remote dialer. The dialing
mode selected in the remote Carnet will determine the effect of the
command.
- In Audio mode,
on the Macintosh's loudspeaker, the hang up command is ignored.
